BALANCE

We hear all the time work/life balance. And if you are like me, easier said than done. My mind goes to what is my schedule today, what needs to get done as soon as I wake up. Our work can have many definitions; especially in the summer time, it feels like life can be more like work. Mowing, weeding, planting seem to be a constant addition to our weeks. Then add in more family and friend gatherings meaning more shopping, cleaning entertaining and clean up. All of this in addition to kids home from school, planning and executing kids activities, more laundry, more directing and supervising or driving to someone else for directing and supervising.
Well, I am here to tell you balance and feeling that balance can come in a simple breath. Truly. A time to breathe.
As your peepers open for the first time, instead of bringing your mind to what is my schedule today, bring it to a stretch and breath. As you place your feet on the floor, turn your ankles in circles stretch your toes on the floor like a tree is rooted to the earth, take a deep breath in and as you exhale stand reaching your arms to the sky. Inhale once more and bring your hands into prayer position at your heart and one final exhale. Tell yourself this is for me. This is my time. Take one more inhalation as you reach your arms out and up towards the sky and an exhalation as your hands end in prayer position at your heart. Do this 3 times and you will feel the calm take over you. Now smile and head into your day knowing you took a step towards balancing your mind/body for your work/life.
